Oh what a night, late July, back in 2010, what a very special place to be, and I remember what a night! Sung to the song, late December back in 63, got it?
Last night I arrived at the Doubletree Hotel at Sunrise and the Intercoastal, parked my car, and was greeted by my friend Sheriff Al Lamberti, who had just parked his. The 1st thing I noticed was that I was overdressed, Al was real casual, as usual, and I made the adjustment, leaving my jacket in the car.
After parking my car, I entered the lobby; I was met by our host, the incomparable David Singer, who was already working the crowd, and what a crowd it was! Plantation's own Judge, and my buddy Marty & Jeannie Dishowitz came in, ready for a fun night. His honor is sporting a new "goatee", and this couple always lights up a room. Speaking of lighting up, as you know his Honor loves a good cigar, and Jeannie a cigarette, they were later seen on the top deck enjoying the same. Plantation resident, and friend, Judge Jeff Streitfeld was there, we reminisced when his Honor coached in PAL Biddy Basketball with his son. Judge Porter, is one of the coolest Judges around, a "real Person" who has a great sense of humor, and in touch with the real world. She deserves your vote! Other Judges included Bernstein and Luzzo, who I enjoy every time we're together...
Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis was there with his wife, always the good guy at these events, Nova Southeastern University czar (only kidding) Ray Ferrero had a good time, just look at the pictures to see the joy. Radio talk show host Bill Lewis was having fun, and can take a joke, after I asked him where he bought his shirt, or if he collected money for the 'Turnpike', just having Fun, Bill. Listen to Bill Mon-Fri 9am on AM 1470 WWNN, or web at www.wwnn.com Great conversation. Listen to Bill have fun with special guests, including ME!
This was about raising money. Open bar, great food, good company, and conversation. Did I tell you ELVIS was there? Well he was, and gave us all a small part of his special show. See if you can find him in the pictures, out of "Costume”. The silent auction was quite unique, with items for the big and small spenders. Check out the pictures, find some other people you know, leave their names under comments sections. As the ship, the Carlisle left the dock; I couldn't help but start singing. Those who know me know its something I have to do! The song of the night, from 6pm until 10pm was: Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, which started from this Tropic Port, aboard this tiny ship. That's right Gilligan’s Island! Only Gilligan wasn't driving, the "Skipper" was... Check out ALL the pictures.......ciao...Rico
