Is the City of Plantation Choosing Revenue over Public Safety? PDF Print E-mail

I am writing this to express my opposition to the city planned red light cameras.

I am shocked and dismayed at the gross and utter hypocrisy you are displaying in your support of these red light cameras.

I hear a lot of talk about the revenues you would generate with these cameras, yet you don’t mention a word about your very own subjective good neighbor policy that you impose on private property owners who install camera systems to protect their homes and businesses.

1st ANNUAL FOP LODGE 42 GOLF TOURNAMENT PDF Print E-mail

The Plantation Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police was chartered on December 5th, 1965.  It was organized 10 years after the inception of the Plantation Police Department in 1955.  Back in 1965, it was started as a purely fraternal organization meant to support its members and the community we serve.  Back in 1965, we conducted a Carnival at Broward Blvd/State Road 7, raffles, a golf tournament and even had a Policeman’s Ball that a lot of the community attended.

Our lodge is the representative body of the sworn Police Officers and Sergeants of the police department in matters such as collective bargaining.  We also boast fraternal membership of every current member of the police department and  all retirees.

It is in this tradition that our lodge has reinstituted the annual golf tournament.  The money generated from this tournament will enable us to continue to support the community we serve.  Worthwhile projects that we do are the annual Thanksgiving turkey dinner project where we provide turkey dinners for the less fortunate families in Plantation.  The Holiday Toy Drive where we partner and purchase toys for the needy children in Plantation.  We also provide sports scholarships and anonymously provide assistance to the needy of Plantation in many shapes and forms.

Our tournament will be held on October 1st, 2010 at the Jacaranda Country Club.  A golf foursome is only $400.00 and $500.00 after 09/02/2010.  This includes golf, refreshments on the course, goodies and a spectacular after party at Bokampers Bar and Grill to include great raffles and prizes.  We are also still actively looking for tournament sponsors and donations for our raffle.
